On the day that WHO announced that Scunthorpe was the second most polluted town in the UK (after Port Talbot) these were the emissions released by the BOS plant. However, it needs to be said that this smoke lasted only a few minutes after which there were no visible emissions.
Later WHO issued revised figures which made Scunthorpe the most polluted town but used 2013 figures to back up its claim. Using five year old figures does nothing to inspire confidence in WHO claims or provide any meaningful guide to current conditions.
