Circular enclosure on the moor
The feature described in the end-note takes up most of the width of the image. Its interior corresponds to a patch of tall rushes just above the centre of the picture.
The line of the enclosure itself is hard to pick out in a photograph, where a sense of depth is lacking, but it is perhaps easier to see in a view along the enclosure's southern side (which is the near side in the present image): NS2674 : Enclosure: southern side.
Parts of Gourock and Greenock can be seen on the near shore of the Firth of Clyde; out in the Firth, the Rosneath Peninsula juts in from the left.
