Laigh Milton Viaduct
Also known as Milton Bridge or Gatehead Viaduct, the Laigh Milton Viaduct is a former railway viaduct spanning the River Irvine. It was built in 1809-1811 and opened in 1812 and was built for the then Kilmarnock and Troon Railway, Scotland's earliest line. It was closed in 1846 when the railway was realigned. The viaduct was restored in 1995-1996. The Laigh Milton Viaduct is believed to be the world’s earliest surviving viaduct on a public railway and it is a Category A listed building. LinkExternal link
