Oxford Canal near Barby in Northamptonshire
Oxford Canal near Barby in Northamptonshire
This is the Oxford Canal, looking north towards Rugby, from beneath the arch of Borstal Bridge, No 81. A long established public footpath across fields from Barby (since diverted away from Onley Fields Farm) crosses the accommodation bridge.

The likely original name was Onley Fields Bridge when the canal was built here in the eighteenth century. The nearby prison opened as a Borstal in 1968, and became a Young Offenders Institution in 1976.
