Hurn: a tricky bridleway crossing on the A338
Hurn: a tricky bridleway crossing on the A338
Ten years ago, Jim Champion took a photo SZ1396 : Bridleway crossing on the A338 from the staggered refuge between the crash barriers of the central reservation, and described the difficulty of crossing here.

The road was revamped a few years ago and, now, there is no refuge. So the user of the bridleway has to clamber over the crash barriers, which are affixed back-to-back on the same posts. I cannot imagine how a cyclist or horse rider would cross today.

The continuing bridleway on the opposite side is through the gate to the right of the photo.
