Statue of Horatio Nelson
Statue of Horatio Nelson
One wouldn't expect to find a statue of Admiral Nelson in Birmingham, just about as far from the sea as it is possible to be in England. Nelson visited Birmingham in 1802 and was feted where ever he went. Three years later he was dead, killed in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar. The statue was sculpted by Sir Richard Westmacott and unveiled on 25 October 1809.
