In the left foreground are the "concrete base and steel rods" that are mentioned in the Secret Scotland article linked from the first end-note. The nearby trig point is included in the view for context (click on the second end-note title for closer views of it).

The ruined building with which this concrete base is associated is to the photographer's right, as shown in NS2674 : Concrete base near ruin, a view from a different angle.

Click on the first end-note title for various views of that ruined building.
Ruin near Murdieston trig point

30 metres SSE of the trig point is a small unroofed ruin (of mid-20th-century date) that has variously been interpreted as an observation post or the site of a mast associated with an experimental radar installation; see LinkExternal link (at Canmore) and LinkExternal link (at Secret Scotland) for further description. For the trig point itself, see Link

Murdieston trig point

It has flush bracket number S4824, 3rd order, height 234.116m above Newlyn Datum (info from OS archives). It stands 30 metres NNW of a mid-20th-century ruin whose precise date and function are uncertain; see Link for that ruin.
