New Tavern Fort is the remains of an 18th century fort built against the threat of invasion from France. It was extensively rebuilt by General Gordon in about 1870 and includes a large magazine complex. The fort was re-armed in 1904. This is a Second World War Bofors Anti-aircraft gun.
