Pode Hole Pumping Station
Pode Hole Pumping Station
This is what remains of the original steam powered pumping station. Built in 1824 this contained two beam engines - "Holland" (80 hp by Butterley) and "Kesteven" (60 hp by Fenton & Murray). Only the nameplates survive. The surviving building has been much altered and houses a company museum. There are adjoining workshops. All pumping now occurs on the other side of the main road.
