'There But Not There' - World War I memorial
One of two poignant transparent firgures of World War I soldiers sat in the pews of Shobdon church, marking the approaching centenary of the end of the First World War. The inscription with the figures read:
'There but not there
Seated in one of the pews in the church is an outline figure of a soldier, Tommy. Transparent and life-sized. He represents all those whose names are on the Shobdon War memorial – ‘There But Not There’.
The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 2018 is the centenary of the end of the First World War and this figure has been created by ‘Remembered’ as a tribute to the fallen.'
