NY5023 : Erratic at Askham

taken 7 months ago, near to Askham, Cumbria, Great Britain

Erratic at Askham
Erratic at Askham
A glacial erratic by the lane leading west out of Askham is greeted with some surprise, but it is just the first of many such boulders that can be found on the way up to Askham Fell. The underlying rock here is carboniferous limestone, but the erratic certainly isn't. Possibly something from the Borrowdale volcanic group found further west.
