Threading skerries west of Erraid
On a trip collecting skerries around Erraid, we soon reached this pair west of Eilean Gḥmain. There was little swell here, and the gap wide, so no reason not to paddle through. More exciting water lay somewhat further ahead. Erraid and its outlying skerries are all formed from the Ross of Mull granite, a pluton associated with the Caledonian orogeny and dated at c 440 million years old. It is tougher than fibreglass boats...
