TQ2076 : River Thames: Chiswick Bridge

taken 19 years ago, near to Mortlake, Richmond Upon Thames, England

River Thames: Chiswick Bridge
River Thames: Chiswick Bridge
Designed by the architect Sir Herbert Baker RA, construction of the bridge commenced in September 1930 and it was opened by the Prince of Wales in July 1933, simultaneously with Twickenham Bridge and Hampton Court Bridge. The bridge has three main spans and two smaller ones and is made of reinforced concrete clad with Portland Stone. It carries the A316 road over the river between Chiswick and Mortlake. The post on the left, with its light blue and dark blue bands, may be the finishing post for the University Boat Race. Perhaps someone can enlighten us?
