Bingley Five Rise Locks, Leeds and Liverpool Canal
Bingley Five Rise Locks, Leeds and Liverpool Canal
Opened on 21 March 1774, the Bingley Five Rise Locks are the most awesome feature on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. They are the steepest staircase locks in the United Kingdom on the longest canal in the United Kingdom. They represent a fantastic feat of engineering raising the canal 60 feet. The locks are a Grade I listed building. LinkExternal link
