Convenient crossing point on Wemmergill Beck
Convenient crossing point on Wemmergill Beck
A fallen tree has been neatly sawn to just the right length to span the beck and provided a convenient crossing point, though in this weather it was hardly needed as the beck was very low.

On the map, this woodland appears to be called "High Plantation" but all appears to be native woodland - except for one part higher up that is separately fenced and contains conifers, so I would think that the name applies specifically to that bit. The 1:25000 map shows a clearing, and that does have newly planted trees in shelters, but they seem to be mainly rowans and bird cherries, so it looks as though this part is being kept as native woodland. There are certainly very many wildflowers and ferns in evidence.
