NT2035 : The Loch, Hallmanor

taken 7 months ago, 3 km from Kirkton Manor, Scottish Borders, Great Britain

The Loch, Hallmanor
The Loch, Hallmanor
The loch was built by damming the Hallmanor Burn in the early years of the 20th century, by labourers looking for work after the Talla Reservoir scheme was finished. A small hydroelectric plant was installed downstream between the wars to supply Hallmanor House until it was connected to mains electricity in the early 1960s.
