Old turbine house, Hallmanor
Old turbine house, Hallmanor
The loch was built by damming the Hallmanor Burn in the early years of the 20th century, by labourers looking for work after the Talla Reservoir scheme was finished.

A small hydroelectric plant was installed downstream between the wars to supply Hallmanor House until it was connected to mains electricity in the early 1960s. This small shed by the burn is what remains of the plant. (From 'The Source of Manor' by Lyne and Manor Youth Group 1999)
