Pedenís Cave at Craigie
Pedenís Cave at Craigie
This is not really a cave but a pair of butting boulders forming a small hiding area for one person. Presumably in Pedenís time there would have been vegetation or some form of camouflage at the entrance. The Rev Alexander Peden (1626-1686) was a leading figure during the Covenanting times in Scotland and often hid in caves to avoid capture by Government troops. Many men were persecuted during these times for their support of the Presbyterian Church.
