Steiner School (Lakenham First School)
This Grade 2 building dates from 1863. It used to be a hospital and school for girls and in particular, to train girls for domestic service and was also known as the Anguish Girl's School of Housecraft. Two tablets flanking the main door > Link and Link < record the history of the "Girls' and Boys' Hospital Schools" foundation. In September 1941 it became the Thomas Anguish Children's Home, which housed children of both sexes to age seven and older girls. The home was closed in September 1952 and became the Lakenham First School, and a Steiner School from 2007 onwards.
