Former Largs Academy

Largs Academy was a non-denominational high school, located on Flatt Road in the town of Largs from 1970 until 2018, when it closed and moved to a new shared campus facility nearby.

It had a capacity for 1200 pupils who came from six feeder primary schools; St. Mary's Primary School, Brisbane Primary School, Cumbrae Primary School, Fairlie Primary School, Kelburn Primary School and Skelmorlie Primary School. Placement requests were also considered from other nearby towns.

The school was extended in 2008. Accommodation included general classrooms, various practical rooms, an assembly hall which doubled as the main examination hall, two dining halls, a library/resource centre, a computer suite, a medical room, a Guidance suite and Support for Learning and Pupil Support bases etc. The PE facilities include a games hall, gymnasium, activity room, two all‐weather sports pitches and a playing field.

Famous former pupils include GB Ryder Cup winning Captain, Sam Torrance and actress Daniela Nardini.
