The base of the tower of a late Anglo-Saxon Church
Located underneath the railway arches between NZ2563 : The Black Gate and NZ2563 : The Keep, Castle Garth, NE1. For further info, see NZ2563 : Remains of church tower below railway arch at Castle Keep (photographed by Andrew Curtis). In the base of the tower are five late 11th to mid-12th C grave marker slabs that were found in the church's cemetery.
