National Cycle Network Milepost at Seaburn
National Cycle Network Milepost at Seaburn
The broad footway along the main road at Seaburn provides an ideal opportunity for creating a cycleway which forms part of National Cycle Network route 1. This milepost is one of a thousand donated by the Royal Bank of Scotland to the project. This particular design is "Fossil Tree" by John Mills, and is sometimes known as the "English" milepost, although examples of it may be found throughout the United Kingdom. Also sometimes nicknamed "Fish on its nose".

There seem to have been changes since I last visited this site in 2012 - see NZ4060 : National Cycle Network milepost at Seaburn, as the milepost no longer stands on the grass. It looks as if the grass area has been reconfigured. It is also possible that the milepost has been moved 9 metres to the north, according to my GPS reading.
