Heading out south from Easter Skeld, Skelda Voe offers sheltered paddling, with Skelda Ness offering protection from the westerly weather and swell for some way out into the Deeps. For those following the coast round to the left, the cliffs of the Rea Wick peninsula offer many caves, arches and skerries to play in and around, initially in bright red granite, and later in darker sandstones. This is a good starting point for a trip linking islands by a series of short crossings, perhaps as far as Scalloway or down to East Burra...
