HU3242 : Paddling towards Roe Ness

Paddling towards Roe Ness
Paddling towards Roe Ness
Paddling out from Ayre of Deepdale, there are a variety of skerries in the Old Red Sandstone of the Walls Formation - a much darker rock than the red granite on the other side of the bay. The skerry on our right is one of the taller ones, but has a very wide channel behind it. Ahead lies an area of sea known as The Deeps, protected from westerly swell and wind by Skelda Ness, so providing us with very calm water at this stage of our trip.
