This striking portrait of English writer Anthony Burgess was created by street artist Tankpetrol LinkExternal link for the Cities of Hope Festival in 2016 LinkExternal link It is on a wall behind a car park off Oak Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Burgess was born in 1917 in the nearby district of Harpurhey.

The quote "We can destroy what we have written but we cannot unwrite it" relates to the writer's most famous work, his dystopian satire A Clockwork Orange which was published in 1962.
