Thanksgiving window, Rodney Stoke
Thanksgiving window, Rodney Stoke
Another attempt at the window on the south side of St Leonard's Church. "It was installed in the church in 1920, as a "thanksgiving and as a permanent war memorial and commemoration of the good work done by the sailors, soldiers and nurses" who took part in the so-called Great War 1014-1918. Rodney Stoke is one of the few villages, known as Thankful Villages, that was fortunate enough not to lose any of its sons and daughters who went away to that war. The window is inscribed with the caption "All glory be to GOD who in his tender mercy has brought again to their homes the men and women of Rodney Stoke who took part in the Great War 1914-1919" LinkExternal link .
