The Fratry, Carlisle
The Fratry, Carlisle
The dining hall of the former priory, now the cathedral library, bookshop and cafe. Built between 1465 and 1490 in Perpendicular style for Prior Gondibour. The roof is a 'restoration' by G E Street in 1880-1. The original roof is likely to have been much less steeply pitched. Listed Grade I.
