There was a pub called The Angel Inn on this site in 1844. When the turret topped with a cupola was added is uncertain. LinkExternal link At one time it was a Wilsons pub but closed in 1980s. Between 1987 and 1998 it was used as a hotel. In 2013 it was facing demolition. The structure was in fact demolished LinkExternal link but the facade and bell tower were retained and incorporated into the Vimto Gardens development LinkExternal link built next door.
