taken 1 year ago, near to Glecknabae, Argyll And Bute, Great Britain

Quartz vein
Quartz vein
The Dalradian schist which comprises rock outcrops in northern Bute has been subjected to heating and deformation on at least two occasions. Here, deformation and fracturing of the rocks has resulted in the segregation of a thick vein of quartz which is very mobile in solution under metamorphic conditions.
