A452 Warwick Bypass from the lane overbridge northeast of Barford
In 1968, when it first appears on an OS 1:10,560 map, this was the southern end of the Warwick Bypass. It ran between the A425 Banbury Road at Greys Mallory and the A46 dual carriageway at Longbridge south of Warwick. The 6-lane A46 runs north to the west of Warwick and to the south of Kenilworth on its way to Coventry. Now this bit of the A452 is but a link between the remodelled Greys Mallory junction and the M40 limited junction 14 behind the camera, built in the late 1980s. The lane, left, unnamed on maps, runs between the Banbury Road and Barford village where it joins the A429 road to Stow and Cirencester. On one map it is the B4462; a nameplate was photographed in 2005: SP2962 : Flatrabbit Lane. The view is towards Greys Mallory.
The A452
The A452 runs from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire to Brownhills in Staffordshire. It is the major link to the M6 motorway for both Leamington and Warwick in addition to serving as Leamington's link to the M40 motorway and to Coventry.

Between Brownhills and Kenilworth it follows the line of the ancient drover's road called the Welsh Road, which probably has pre-Roman origins.
