Holwood House
Holwood House viewed across fields through a gap in some of the surrounding woodland. The large Cedar trees suggest a larger area of parkland in the past.
The house was built in its present form in 1823-6 for John Ward, a wealthy London merchant (who was later briefly MP for Leominster in 1830), designed by the architect Decimus Burton. It replaced an earlier house built in the 1750s and owned from 1785 by William Pitt the Younger, Prime Minister from 1783-1801 and 1804-6. Grade I listed - see Link
