SO8995 : "Wild" Muchall Park in Penn, Wolverhampton

"Wild" Muchall Park in Penn, Wolverhampton
The western part of this formerly attractively maintained park area has been designated "nature friendly zone" which in practice means "we only cut the grass once a year, in the autumn". This image shows the park at the end of more than six weeks of drought, including persistent heatwave temperatures. Had rainfall been normal this would have been far more overgrown. Maybe the weeds ... errr I mean wild flowers that become established will be of interest, and the council will have saved money, (which they are being forced to do excessively by central government funding policy). Our lovely stand of five hornbeam trees is on the left.
