"Rutherford, Turing and Beyond"
"Rutherford, Turing and Beyond"
Part of the Bee in the City project, sponsored by Ocean Outdoor, designed and decorated by Rob Catterall and sited in Market Street.

This design recognises great Manchester inventors. Marking Ernest Rutherford’s achievements, the Bee depicts the splitting of the atom (the eyes) into two separate atoms (either side of the body). Alan Turing’s work led to the modern computer; illustrated by the binary code around the base. The wings give a nod to Professors Andre Geim and Kostya Novoselov who developed graphene into a usable material.
