The year 1874 is engraved on the wall above the large circular window. The building replaced the original early 19th century chapel which in 1872 was stated to be unsafe to worship in and too small for the congregation. The Oakridge History Group records that the congregation was c130 in 1851 but over the next 100 years numbers attending the chapel gradually fell, reaching a low of 13 in 1933. However, by 1972 the congregation had increased again, numbering 20 adults and 22 children attending Sunday School. The church closed in the early 21st century. It was sold in 2008.
