Mysterious holes at Sandsend Ness
Low tide and several circular holes are noticeable on the scar. Each must be 2-3 metres in diameter. There is a report of "a line of substantial, paired, rock-cut postholes in the foreshore, extending from the base of the sea cliff out to the low water mark. The postholes must mark the position of a former jetty, probably one connected with the alum trade." See LinkExternal link

Seem a bit too wide for post holes to me so probably not relevant.
