View of the River Irwell and Albert Bridge SJ8398 : Albert Bridge, Manchester from the footbridge at Spinningfields. On the left bank is the site of the former Mark Addy pub SJ8398 : The Mark Addy which was destroyed by a flood in 2015 SJ8398 : River Irwell, Flood Damage at the Mark Addy.
River Irwell
The River Irwell rises on the Rossendale hills north of Bacup and flows south for 39 miles before joining the River Mersey west of Manchester. It was a very important river in the development of industry, during the Industrial revolution, in Lancashire.
