Cheddington was once the junction for a branch line to Aylesbury which curved away from the station approximately on the alignment seen here - part of which is now the station approach road. It was, from all accounts, a sleepy affair - the sort of line where a train might stop unofficially by a gate to pick up a farmer on market day. It can hardly have been well used; passenger trains were withdrawn as early as 1953 with freight trains continuing to run for another ten years or so.
