The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Ivinghoe
The Church of St Mary the Virgin, Ivinghoe
Although there is no record of the church before the 13th century, it is believed that the west wall incorporated part of an earlier building when this was built in around 1220. The date indicates that the church survived the burning down of the village in 1234 by Richard Siward who wished to spite its patron, the Bishop of Winchester.
