Foxton Locks Inn at Foxton Junction, Leicestershire
The public house at Foxton Junction has spread to most of the original neighbouring buildings. Nearby (off to the right) are the ten staircase locks, and behind it is the site of the Foxton inclined plane, which replaced the locks for a decade or so at the start of the 20th century. This telephoto image was obtained from about 80 metres away on Rainbow Bridge.
This image shows the Grand Union Canal (Leicester Section). Through the bridge on the left is the basin (now used for moorings) which was by the inclined plane. To the right the canal climbs two five-lock staircases and cintinues towards Rugby. Off to the left, past a swing bridge, is the Market Harborough Arm of the canal.
