The Octagonal Market Cross in Barnard Castle
The Market Cross was built in 1747 as a gift to the town from Thomas Breaks. It has been used as a butter market, Town Hall, Court room, Prison and fire station. It is grade I listed.
On this site www.barnardcastlelife.co.uk it's called the Market Cross. Very interesting images and text. I thoroughly enjoyed looking around. Cheers, Dave
