The Bishop's Garden dates back to the 12th century and once extended to twelve acres of ground but was over time reduced to only four, and today it is completely separated from the adjacent Bishop's Palace, the former residence of the Norwich bishops, which currently forms part of the Norwich School. The garden comprises an upper lawn and a formal lower garden, which contains one of the largest Tulip trees in Norfolk, the second largest London Plane tree in the county > Link , a very rare Wollemi pine tree > Link , a Woodland and a Jungle Walk > Link , Queen Victoria's Hebe > Link , a Bambooserie > Link , a wildflower labyrinth > Link and a vegetable garden > Link for the bishop and his family .

Apart from the Bishop's House > Link the only other buildings in the grounds are Bishop Salmon's Porch (early 14th century, Grade II* listed) > Link and Bishop Reynold's Chapel (1660s, Grade II* listed) > Link. The Bishop's Garden is accessed via Bishop Alnwick's Gate > Link on St Martins at Palace Plain.
