Magdalene Street, a popular shopping street is 3-4 minutes walk away behind the photographer. This however, is the view towards New Park Street. A plaque beneath the furthest wall-mounted flower box highlights the fact that Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal (1877-1938) the Pakistani Muslim poet and philosopher lived here between 1905-06 whilst studying at Trinity College. He went on to read law at London University and studied for a PhD degree in Munich before returning to teach and practise law in India. Later he was knighted by King George V.
