River, boom, footie and hotel in Leicester
River, boom, footie and hotel in Leicester
This is the River Soar near the centre of Leicester. The boom helps prevent narrowboats and other vessels from becoming swept onto the weir. Freeman's Meadow Lock (No 41) is off to the left. The red-brick Holiday Inn is on Eastern Boulevard. The blue building is Leicester City's football stadium, currently called the King Power Stadium.
