There are several separate watercourses called "The Bourne" in this area. Most of them are differentiated by the addition of the name of the place through which they flow, such as Addlestone Bourne and Chertsey Bourne. However here in the middle of the countryside, there is no town, so this is the confluence of Mill Bourne, on the left, with The Bourne, on the right. Mill Bourne has passed through an old mill at Chobham and Emmett's Mill before reaching this point, but upstream of Chobham it is formed by the confluence of Hale Bourne and Clappers Brook...
