University Library, West Road, Cambridge
A view from the Burrell's Walk gate. Burrell's Walk links Queen's Road (the A1134) and Grange Road. This, the main university research library, is located between Robinson College and the Memorial Court of Clare College. It is the library’s second location and it was constructed between 1931-34 under Giles Gilbert Scott, with the American philanthropist John D. Rockefeller providing most of the funds. He also persuaded the architect to add the 157 feet (48 m) tall front-facing tower. Regular exhibitions, often featuring items from its collections, are open to the public.
