The future site of a culvert
The future site of a culvert
See NS3977 : The future site of a culvert and NS3977 : Expansion at Kilmalid for views of this area from other angles. The yellow object is a diesel power supply for a submersible pump.

This work was taking place in preparation for the construction of a short culvert under the path (for the path, see the 1:25000 map and larger-scale mapping); that culvert was built shortly afterwards, in connection with expansion taking place at the Kilmalid plant.
Kilmalid bottling and blending plant
The blending plant built by Hiram Walker (Scotland) at Kilmalid, near Dumbarton, opened in 1977, and was said to be the most advanced in Europe. A few years later, a bottling plant was also built here; it went into operation in August 1982. Later, after various takeovers and mergers, the company operating the site was called Chivas Brothers (part of Pernod Ricard). Towards the end of 2016, Chivas Brothers announced that it was closing its operations at Paisley, but investing in an expansion of the Kilmalid site; jobs from Paisley were to be transferred there. It was intended that the expansion work at Kilmalid be completed in 2019.
