NZ1858 : Octagon Pond at Gibside

taken 2 years ago, near to Rowlands Gill, Gateshead, Great Britain

Octagon Pond at Gibside
Octagon Pond at Gibside
Logically the Octagon Pond is named from its outline shape; that appearance isn't apparent in this image or from being present on the ground! A National Trust notice at the location tells that there's no plan to restore the octagonal form to the pond as it would disturb unduly the wildlife there, notably great crested newts. Another feature of the estate, the Banqueting House, can be seen at the top right of the image.
