taken 6 years ago, near to Kirkmichael, Perth And Kinross, Scotland

Electrical Air Break on Overhead Power Lines
Electrical Air Break on Overhead Power Lines
An overhead power line in rural Great Britain with an air break. The air break is a means of breaking an electrical circuit to allow part of a power line to be isolated. The mechanism of the air break can be seen in the photo; pulling down on the hook at the bottom causes a metal bar above to lift via a pivot and break the circuit.
