The N72 is a major east to west road. It runs 166km from Old Pike Cross to Killorglin, from Counties Kerry across Cork to Waterford.

There appears to be some dispute between the plaque and the information board as to the Gaelic spelling!

The explanation of this apparent discrepancy is that the board refers to the town of Lismore, whilst the plaque is specifically about the castle so the name appears in the genitive, literally "the Castle of the Big Enclosure". Mochuda was the saint who was the legendary founder of the town and abbey (also known as St Carthage, to whom both the CoI cathedral and the RC parish church in the town are dedicated).
