NY8571 : The Temple of Mithras

taken 8 months ago, 3 km from Simonburn, Northumberland, Great Britain

The Temple of Mithras
The Temple of Mithras
The remains of the Temple of Mithras close to the Roman fort of Brocolitia along Hadrian's Wall. The blocks of stone at the far end of the building are altars, but not the real ones - they're replicas. The originals exist and are part of a reconstruction of the temple in the Museum of Antiquities, Newcastle.
